Former Indian player Manoj Tiwary bashed Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s (RCB) key player Glenn Maxwell after the Australian failed to deliver against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on Tuesday at the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium.

Tiwary believed that Maxwell is not justifying his massive price tag of INR 11 crore with his current form as he is getting his salary on time but the performance is nowhere to be seen.

Maxwell departed for 0 during Tuesday’s encounter when RCB were chasing an 182-run target against LSG. Being one of the most trusted batters, there were hopes that the Aussie would stand up and deliver for his side but once again, that was not the case.

Taking to Cricbuzz after the match, Tiwary criticised RCB’s approach saying that the team is considered to be a batting-heavy side but they have failed consistently to perform big this season.

“RCB have always been considered a batting-heavy team but their line-up has failed to deliver. Neither their batters are getting runs nor their bowlers are performing well. In the middle order, batter like Anuj Rawat has not put up a good show after playing a good knock in the first match," Tiwary told Cricbuzz.

He then mentioned Maxwell, who has only scored 31 runs in four innings at a poor average of 7.75, saying that the Aussie needs to give a match-winning performance for his team as he is expected to do so.

“I understand that you are a young player but you are also surrounded by some of the top players in your team. If you can't get that clarity on how to go about the game, then I think you are not focused. Well, I would say that management is also showing so much faith in Maxwell by retaining him but he is only getting paid from time to time and not giving a match-winning performance for the team," he added.

Earlier, Emerging pacer Mayank Yadav starred as LSG beat RCB by 28 runs in the 15th match of IPL 2024.

That was RCB's third defeat in four games while LSG have two wins in three games.
